Meet Daniel Frenklakh
Lifelong Resident of Verona, Volunteer EMT, Township Intern, Lifeguard, Former Student Body Secretary, and ROTC Cadet at Rutgers University
Daniel believes in leadership anchored in listening, accountability, and policies shaped by real people. Daniel attended F.N Brown Elementary, HBW Middle School, and Verona High School. Through his experience as a former student, he offers a fresh perspective to the board. Coming in with innovative solutions, he will offer honesty, integrity, and transparency to a school system where many residents have undeniably felt left out.

Fixing the Budget
The largest problem facing this school board is the upcoming Fiscal Year 2028 Budget. Daniel has proposed multiple ideas, including enhanced shared services with the townships, better inter-district partnerships with neighboring school boards, looking into solar energy with no upfront costs (PPAs), and prioritizing applications for grants that currently slip through the cracks. If elected, he would work with his fellow board members and administration to ensure effective implementation.
Approving New Curriculum
The Board of Education does not make curriculum, (that is reserved to the superintendent) but it does play a major role in approving it. Daniel would prioritize the creation of new electives that prepare high-schoolers for a world past VHS. Examples include a "Success in Testing course" going over the new digital desmos calculator on the SAT and digital ACT, the style of test questions by the College Board, and review of the core concepts tested. In many fields, standardized testing is such an important part of one's life even after college, it's important we give students a head start.
Speaking Up For Accountability
The Board of Education is first and foremost accountable to the people. On the BOE, Daniel will be open to speak to any resident who wishes to air a complaint, in hopes of finding a solution to fix that problem. A board can only represent the people so much without getting, and internalizing, feedback from those same people it serves.
Demanding Transparency
Many parents simply do not have the time to attend the hours-long meetings that the Board of Education hosts. Daniel would publish a concise summary of all meetings that he serves as a member. He would also push for the full budget to be released for the public to the maximum extent practical so anyone can review it and offer their insight.
